St Pius X is a vibrant Catholic co-educational primary school committed to every student finding meaning and purpose in their life through continual growth in faith and improvement in learning. A place where each student is valued and respected, developing positive relationships while working towards a hope-filled future.
We ensure every child is provided with a learning program that is contemporary and personalised, in a learning environment that is inclusive, supportive, and challenges students to reach their full potential.
At St Pius X, we value each individual’s gifts and talents, whereby children and staff are challenged and nurtured to achieve their full potential through quality learning and teaching experiences in a culture based on Gospel values.
As a faith community, we value faith in action and aim to make a difference in the lives of others through all that we do.
The teaching staff of St Pius X community provide a variety of learning experiences to accommodate the multitude of learning styles within each classroom context. Students participate in hands on learning, creative, rich and challenging tasks interchangeably throughout the school day. Students are facilitated to achieve success through the implementation of learning intentions and collaboratively developed success criteria.
The students at St Pius X are engaging in quality learning and teaching experiences, whereby students are challenged and encouraged at their own levels of proximal development. Students engage in flexible learning experiences of modelled, guided and independent learning. Teachers develop individualised learning plans to support the needs of identified students in their care.
At St Pius X, we strive to be at the forefront of learning, providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students within our care. We value constant improvement of our facilities and technology to ensure our students have access to the best possible education, including supporting opportunities for comfortable flexible learning spaces and outdoor learning experiences to occur.
We aim to develop responsible and ethical digital citizens who are proficient in their use of technology. Students use 1:1 iPads to enhance learning in every classroom within the school, as well as TVs to share learning and regular STEM and coding-based sessions.
We also offer quality on-site before and after school (OOSH) care for our students.
St Pius X strives to provide a safe and caring environment, where the unique gifts and talents of the students are recognised and celebrated. Staff use the PB4L framework to support students in their academic and social formation, taking time to explicitly model appropriate behaviours and use positive reinforcement, allowing students opportunities to practise these in all school settings.
Students in all grades also participate in a variety of programs to assist with their social and emotional learning and wellbeing.
At St Pius X, teachers provide a range of opportunities for students to show their potential and engage in higher order thinking processes, and devise specific Individual Plans for students who have been formally assessed as gifted. These plans can include:
The school also has a variety of fantastic co-curricular opportunities on offer for students to excel in their areas of interest.
St Pius X students take an active role in 'caring for our common home’. Pope Francis’ Laudato Si continues to inspire our school community to act to ensure that our already-beautiful school environment and all the wonders of creation are around for future generations. The school community is involved in a range of initiatives that empower our students to support the ongoing care of creation through, for example:
The students at St Pius X engage in a variety of social justice initiatives throughout the school year, including Project Compassion, Caritas' Sock-it-to-Poverty, Catholic Mission Month and the St Vincent de Paul Winter and Christmas Appeals. In addition to these opportunities, the school also identifies current areas of need for the school community to support – for example, a pyjama day to support the ongoing St Vincent de Paul Drought Appeal.
In keeping with Gospel values, no child is refused a Catholic education due to financial inability or difficulty. New or existing parents who find themselves in this situation are encouraged to discuss fee concessions with our school principal who will treat the situation with understanding, sensitivity and confidentiality.
